An Island in a Day: Tour Logistics

Choose your destination and discover how we craft your day at sea.

1. Filicudi: The Wild West

  • Timings: Departure by 10:00 AM from the port of Malfa; Return by 5:30 PM.
  • The Journey: A 45–50 minute navigation westward from Malfa to the first swim stop.
  • The Itinerary: We explore the prehistoric coastline, including the Grotta del Bue Marino and the majestic La Canna sea stack. We usually plan for 4 to 5 swim stops. On the return, we often stop at Pollara (Salina) as it sits perfectly on our route home.
  • Lunch: We dock at the charming village of Pecorini a Mare. You can choose between a seaside restaurant, a local rotisserie for Aeolian “street food,” or a deli for fresh sandwiches to enjoy back on the boat.

Prefer a later start? You can experience this same itinerary with our Afternoon & Evening formula to enjoy the sunset over the sea.

2. Panarea: Islets & Glamour

  • Timings: Departure by 10:00 AM (from Malfa or Santa Marina); Return by 5:30 PM.
  • The Journey: A 45-minute navigation eastward to the first swimming spot.
  • The Itinerary: We begin at Cala Junco before heading to the village. In the afternoon, we explore the uninhabited islets of Dattilo and Lisca Bianca, followed by a 20-minute crossing to Basiluzzo for a slow circumnavigation and a front-row view of Stromboli.
  • Lunch: Panarea is the archipelago’s style capital. Options range from chic gourmet restaurants and trattorias to high-quality delis. Many guests choose to bring local delicacies back to the boat to maximize their time in the turquoise water.

If you prefer our Afternoon & Evening formula, the return journey becomes the highlight; we navigate back as the setting sun illuminates the northern coast of Salina.

3. Lipari: The Western Cliffs

  • Timings: Departure by 10:00 AM (from Malfa or Santa Marina); Return by 5:30 PM.
  • The Journey: 45 minutes from Malfa or 30 minutes from Santa Marina to the first stop.
  • The Itinerary: We start at the Pumice Quarries to swim in neon-turquoise waters. After a stop at the main town, we focus on the Western Coast (unreachable by land), featuring the Faraglioni sea stacks and Valle Muria, with 3 to 5 swim stops total.
  • Lunch: We dock at Marina Corta, right in the historic center. You can explore the boutiques and cafés or grab a quick Sicilian lunch to head back out to the wilder, quieter side of the island.

The Faraglioni are breathtaking at dusk; consider our Afternoon & Evening formula to see these giants under the colors of the sunset.

4. Lipari & Vulcano: The Great Expedition

  • Timings: Departure by 10:00 AM (from Malfa or Santa Marina); Return by 7:00 PM (Our most extensive tour).
  • The Journey: 45 minutes from Malfa or 30 minutes from Santa Marina to the first stop.
  • The Itinerary: After a morning swim at the Lipari quarries and lunch, we cross to Vulcano to see the sulfur fumaroles and mud baths. We then explore the Grotta del Cavallo and the Gelso lighthouse. On the return, we slowly navigate the western cliffs of Lipari.
  • Lunch: We strongly suggest lunching in Lipari (Marina Corta) before crossing to Vulcano. This offers the best variety of fresh, local options before we head into the more rugged volcanic landscape.

5. Salina: The Luxury of Time

  • Timings: Departure by 10:00 AM (from Malfa or Santa Marina); Return by 5:30 PM.
  • The Journey: No crossing time; immediate access to the “Green Pearl’s” coastline.
  • The Itinerary: A full circumnavigation of our home island. The lack of navigation time allows for longer, more relaxed swim stops and the chance to visit multiple seaside villages. You will see the Pollara crater and the lush cliffs from an exclusive perspective.
  • Lunch: We recommend docking at Rinella or Lingua. Both villages are famous for their Pane Cunzato and traditional Granita—the essential flavors of a summer day in Salina.

Our Afternoon & Evening formula is the perfect way to conclude a day in Salina, specifically designed around the famous Pollara Sunset Ritual.
